A weight problem can be crippling not only physically, but mentally as well. Nobody wants to be obese! For me obesity is like an illness, but unlike many other illnesses, everyone sees mine. Everyone can see that it is a part of my life that I haven't been able to control..... until now!

Hello,
My name is John, I'm 44 years old and I began this journey at a weight of 342 lbs. I am not a doctor or personal trainer, nor do I hold any degrees or licenses in the health field. I am quite simply an average guy who's decided to shed close to 150 lbs in 2008. Remember that you should consult with a doctor before undertaking a large weight loss such as I am doing.
You may be asking yourself "So why a website?". Well, there are 4 reasons:
  1. Commitment; by telling hundreds, possibly thousands of people that I plan to lose over 100 lbs in 2008 and keeping them updated on a weekly basis as to my progress . . . . good or bad, I am committing myself to doing this!
  2. Inspiration; I hope that others who have successfully conquered their weight issues will share their inspirational stories with me to keep me on the right track.
  3. Motivation; I hope that by posting my progress on this website along with contributed stories, I will be able to encourage others to find the motivation to embark on their own journey to a healthier lifestyle.
  4. Opportunity; As an aspiring web developer, this website allows me the opportunity to sharpen my web programming skills.

  • The My Weight Loss Strategy page contains a list of the principles that I am using every day throughout my journey.

  • On the Fat Man's Diary page you'll get a weekly glimpse into my life as it pertains to my weight loss.
